Thank you my beloved canine companions, for you have changed my life completely….

Background…

The Canine Mobility Project was created from a desire to support and teach dog guardians how to help their dog heal from injury, a health condition, and to create an easier experience throughout the senior years when arthritis sets in.

It can be a very stressful experience when our dogs sustain an injury or health condition.  As our dogs age, they face mobility challenges with the onset of arthritis and there are many things we can do, in between vet visits, to offer support.

We can improve mobility by building strong muscles around the joints, which in turn, increases stability.  By keeping muscles pliable and addressing compensatory patterns, we can hopefully prevent further injury.

About…

My name is Sarah Rose, I have lived my life with or near animals and if you were to ask anyone who knows me, they would refer to my love of our beloved beasts! I am a certified Canine Sport Therapist and Rehabilitation Massage Practitioner, with an integrative scope towards supporting healing.

With a broad background in positive reinforcement dog training, I bring a unique skill set to assisting the healing process because everything from equipment (whether you use a collar or a harness), to how a dog behaves, can play a factor in supporing mobility.

I have been so very blessed in my relationships with my own dogs. What brings us to our knees in life, can be the catalyst for great, personal transformation. My dear canine family members have stretched and taught me more than any program or course and it is with this experience, that I am able to share such compassion and knowledge with you.

Canine Mobility is one of those things we take for granted until an injury or arthritis sets in.

Mobility is defined as the ability to move or be moved freely and easily.

Canine Mobility Project Services

CONSULTATION

Each dog is unique and therefore, I recommend you book an appointment for an assessment consultation as your first step.  During this visit, I will assess movement patterns, range of motion, muscle tension patterns, weight transferring ability and weight loading tendencies. I will then massage your dog and we can discuss a short/long term mobility plan. If your dog has undergone recent surgery, I may ask for your vet to approve massage and weight tranferring exercises.

ONLINE VIDEO SUPPORT

Once I have met your dog and I have a sense of his/her unique abilities, I will then develop a plan that will support your dog’s mobility needs.  My goal is to teach you, the dog’s guardian, so that you can help your dog on a daily basis.  I can come to your home where your dog is most comfortable and together we will create a healing plan that fits your needs/lifestyle.

Maintenance Massage develops an awareness of your dog’s movements, muscle atrophy/tension areas, compensatory patterns and best of all…what your dog is trying to tell you.

Rehabilitation Massage helps to bring the body back into homeostasis after/or at the onset of an injury. Some of the techniques used may be: Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Circulatory Massage, Inflammatory Massage, Trigger Point Release, Applied Kinesiology, to name a few…

Meg the Border Collie became suddenly paralyzed and hovered to hang onto her life. She recovered fully after 4 months and I continue to support her with massage and strength work. What an amazing little teacher she is and her courage to hang on has been incredible!!!

The reason I called this a project, is to address the desire to expand on the many components that affect mobility. You will see this website grow, as I pull together the pieces of this project.
